Node teasers simply work right? Wrong...

Node teasers are broken and most developers don't even know it, meaning it can be a pain for content creators. If you're building large websites that constantly pump out content, then read on to learn how we fix Drupal's teasers with one simple module...

I think the reason that many experienced Drupal developers don't know exists is due to the fact that they are not full-time content creators. The problems surface when your job is to create great content on a website and your company has a workflow that involves editing and checking your content meticulously. I had been working as a Drupal developer for many years before I was in a meeting, during which the content creators of a large Drupal content platform were complaining about inconsistent display of their article teasers on various parts of the website.

The life of a Drupal developer… it can be a drag. After all, we sit at our chairs for hours on end, sipping on tea or Coke, and staring blankly at the screen. We do what we can to keep ourselves awake. We occasionally divert our eyes to relieve the strain or get up and walk around to ease the tension in our back.

But, is it really that bad?

Well..

The life of a Drupal developer is also very busy. After all, the inbox is overflowing with emails asking about a progress update and there are deadlines you need to meet by week’s end. What are you to do? It seems like a never-ending cycle of work.

When you do finally start working, you may feel like you’re being productive; but, the reality is… your workload is piling up. Do you really need to burn the midnight oil… just to catch up? As a Drupal developer, you have a few things to learn.

After I posted a case study last week I had a number of readers ask me if they could try a demo and see how it works. There is no try-out demo yet but in the meanwhile I produced a video that demonstrates the basic controls:

.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }

If you have any questions about integration and the open source library that powers it feel free to contact or comment!

On June 1st 2015, Sooperthemes.com released the first Drupal Theme that integrates a visual front-end Drag and Drop page builder. I have worked on this project for almost a year, with some breaks in between for client projects that pay the bills. With the release of this theme I have retired all other Sooperthemes drupal themes. All new designs will use Glazed theme as a platform. It was a great adventure and I feel proud to show you what I think is the best I could do.

Following other theme providers as well as Drupal core, I'm dropping support for IE7.
The new branch of the Arctica base theme is now using a more lightweight grid system that uses the border-box model. While it is possible to polyfill IE7 with border-box support I soon found out it doesn't work reliably. Instead of spending time on trying to bring old browsers to the future I'm now going to focus on leaner code and better features. IE7 simply can't cope in a world with responsive web design and HTML5 features that are gaining support in modern browsers.
Hopefully IE8 will soon follow: http://theie8countdown.com/
