Clone a web page with AI.

Rebuild a public web page as editable DXPR Builder content with one AI request

Learn DXPR BuilderBuild pagesWrite and design with AI

Start a new page from a web page that already works. Type Clone and the web address in the AI box of an empty page. The AI copies its text and layout into sections, rows and elements you can edit. Use it to rebuild a page you own in DXPR Builder or to start from a structure you like. Clone only pages you have the right to reuse.

The video clones the DXPR pricing page into an empty page and changes its heading.

Before you start

  • AI is switched on, with Enable page creation assistant ticked. See Turn on AI in DXPR Builder.
  • The page you want to clone is public. DXPR fetches it over the internet, so a page behind a login, on an intranet or on your own computer cannot be cloned.
  • You have the right to reuse its text and images.

Set up

  1. Add a new page of a content type that uses DXPR Builder, give it a title and save it. The empty page shows an AI box with a Generate content button.
  2. Click in the box and type Clone and the web address, for example "Clone dxpr.com/pricing".
  3. Click Generate content.
  4. Wait while the AI copies the page. The status line says "Cloning content...".
  5. Review the copy and change what does not fit, for example the heading.
  6. Click Save on the builder toolbar.

What you see

The copy arrives as normal sections, rows, columns and elements. You edit them like any other content: text in place, settings in each element's dialog. Check every fact, price and link before you publish. The copy shows what the source page said on the day you cloned it.

Cloning only works in the AI box of an empty page, and it copies a whole page. The AI uses the first web address in your request; you can leave out https://. In AI Agent on the builder toolbar or in Edit with AI, a request with a web address writes new content instead of copying the page.

Clone in an element's More menu is something else: it duplicates that element on the same page, without AI. See Clone an element.

If you don't see the copied page

  • A message says "The page at ... could not be cloned. Check the address and try again." DXPR could not open the page. Check the address in a private browser window. If the page needs a login or only works inside your network, it cannot be cloned.
  • A message says "Some content was imported successfully, but ... elements could not be parsed." Parts of the source page used markup the builder cannot turn into elements. Add those parts by hand.
  • The AI wrote a new page about the address instead of copying it. The request did not start on an empty page, or the AI did not read it as a clone request. Start the request with the word Clone, on an empty page.
  • The status line stays on "Cloning content..." for minutes. The source page is large or slow. Reload the page and try again, or clone a smaller page.
  • There is no AI box on the empty page. Enable page creation assistant is off. Ask your site administrator to tick it at /admin/dxpr_studio/dxpr_builder/ai_settings.
