DrupalCon

DrupalCon is the Drupal community's continent-wide conference, organized by professional event planners together with the Drupal Association.

Learn DrupalDrupal glossary Last updated

DrupalCon is a recurring, in-person conference where the Drupal community learns and works together. The Drupal Association describes it as an international educational event for people who use, develop, design and support Drupal. Attendees can join conference sessions, full-day trainings and industry summits, plus a day for contributing to Drupal.

How DrupalCon works

Trainings are full-day courses for beginners through advanced users. Summits bring together people from one field, such as education, healthcare, non-profits or government. The contribution day is a full day dedicated to contributing to Drupal in person. The Association also runs a grant and scholarship program; recipients agree to work volunteer shifts during the event.

A keynote called the Driesnote is part of the program. At DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026, Dries Buytaert used it for a tour of what Drupal can do now, including easier multilingual site building, headless delivery and AI assistants that connect to a site's content.

The name is protected. Dries Buytaert owns the Drupal trademark and has licensed the DrupalCon name to the Drupal Association.

Example

DrupalCon Rotterdam ran from 28 September to 1 October 2026 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Its program menu lists Summits, Contribution & Mentoring and Drupal in a Day. In October 2026, the events site counted 32 events since 2005 and listed the next two: DrupalCon Orlando, 22 to 25 March 2027, and DrupalCon Edinburgh, 25 to 28 October 2027.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting the ticket to cover everything. Trainings and summits need their own sign-up and a fee on top of the standard conference ticket.
  • Using a dated schedule. Locations and dates change from year to year, so check the events site for the current list.

For marketing and content teams

You do not have to attend to benefit. Past sessions are archived on YouTube, so you can watch the talks that matter for your site. If you work in one of the summit fields, the summit is where people with the same questions meet. Organizations can also sponsor DrupalCon, which the Drupal Association lists as one way to support it.
