The six ways the AI writes content in DXPR Builder, with a request to try for each

Learn DXPR BuilderBuild pagesWrite and design with AI

The AI in DXPR Builder can do six kinds of writing work: build a layout, write a line of text, write formatted text, rewrite, translate and clone a web page. You do not pick the tool yourself. The AI reads your request and chooses the tool that fits it. This page gives you one request to try for each, so you learn which words lead to which result.

The video tries three of them on an Open Day page: a layout, a shorter heading and a welcome article.

Before you start

  • AI is switched on, with Enable page creation assistant ticked. See Turn on AI in DXPR Builder.
  • The page is open for editing in DXPR Builder, so the builder toolbar shows.
  • The page has a heading and a Text element with a paragraph, for example about an Open Day. In the requests below, replace "Open Day text" with words that name your own text. Each request uses DXPR credits.

Set up

  1. Click AI Agent on the builder toolbar and type "Add a section below with 3 text cards about campus life, no images".
  2. Click Generate content and look at the new section. It goes straight onto the page; you do not need to accept it before the next request.
  3. Click AI Agent again, type "Write a short title for the heading" and click Generate content.
  4. Click AI Agent again, type "Add a 2-paragraph welcome article for new students to the Open Day text" and click Generate content.
  5. Read each result before you keep it.
  6. Click Save on the builder toolbar.

What you see

Each request changes the page in its own way. The layout request adds a section with cards. The heading request replaces one line of text and nothing else. The welcome article arrives as formatted paragraphs inside the Open Day text. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) to undo any of them. See Review and keep AI text for how to keep a result.

The six tools

Tool What it does A request to try Where to ask
Layout Builds sections, rows, cards, columns or a form "Add a section below with 3 text cards about campus life, no images" AI Agent on the builder toolbar
Plain text Writes one line without formatting: a heading, a label, a button text "Write a short title for the heading" AI Agent, or Edit with AI on the element
Rich text Writes formatted text: paragraphs, lists, headings inside a text "Add a 2-paragraph welcome article for new students to the Open Day text" AI Agent
Rewrite Changes the wording, tone or length of text you have "Polish the Open Day paragraph" AI Agent or Edit with AI, see Review and keep AI text
Translate Puts text into another language "Translate into Dutch" AI Agent or Edit with AI, see Translate content with AI
Clone Copies a public web page into editable elements "Clone dxpr.com/pricing" The AI box of an empty page, see Clone a web page with AI

The AI decides from your words, so the same request can now and then go to a neighbouring tool. "Write a 2-paragraph message at the end" can come back as a new layout section, while "Add a 2-paragraph welcome article ... to the Open Day text" comes back as rich text inside that text. "Change the heading" can come back as a rewrite, while "Write a short title for the heading" comes back as plain text. Words such as "rewrite", "polish", "improve" or "make it friendlier" lead to a rewrite. Name a language to get a translation.

The commands in a Text element's toolbar, such as Polish or Make Shorter, write plain text in place, see Rewrite text with AI. Pictures have their own tools, see Generate an image with AI.

If you don't see the result you asked for

  • The AI rewrote your text instead of adding new text. The request sounded like a rewrite. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) and say where the new content goes, for example "at the end" or "below the text".
  • The result came back as a different kind, for example a new section instead of text in place. The AI chose a neighbouring tool. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) and name the target: say "section" for a layout, or "to the ... text" for text inside an element.
  • There is no AI Agent button on the builder toolbar. AI or Enable page creation assistant is off. Ask your site administrator, see Turn on AI in DXPR Builder.
  • A message says "Could not determine which part of the page to change." The AI could not tell where your change goes. Select the element you mean, open Edit with AI on it and ask again.
  • A web address in your request did not copy the page. Cloning only works in the AI box of an empty page. See Clone a web page with AI.
  • The status line turns into "Hmm...something seems to have gone wrong." DXPR could not finish the request, for example because the account is out of credits. Click Retry, or check Credits remaining at /admin/dxpr_studio/dxpr_builder/ai_settings.
