DXPR Onboarding: badges, wings and ranks.
Open DXPR Onboarding, read your badges, ranks and wings, and choose wings for the Onboarding companion
DXPR Onboarding shows what you have learned in DXPR Builder. You earn badges by using features in your daily work. Badges unlock wings for the Onboarding companion, the small cloud in the editor, and raise your rank. This page shows how to open DXPR Onboarding, read your collection and choose wings. Your site administrator decides whether it is available.
The video opens DXPR Onboarding, looks at the ranks and the AI badges, and equips a pair of wings.
Before you start
- Your site administrator has switched on Enable DXPR Onboarding, see Settings.
- You can edit pages with DXPR Builder and are logged in with your own account.
- To equip wings you need at least 1 badge: Paper wings unlock with your first one.
Set up
- Click the Onboarding companion, the cloud at the bottom right of the editor. The DXPR Onboarding window opens on Overview.
- On the Overview, click Rank ladder to expand the list of ranks and how many badges each one needs.
- Click the Badges tab and choose a Category, for example AI skills.
- Click a badge to see what earns it and, when available, the date you earned it.
- Click the Wings tab, click an unlocked wing and click Equip wings. The cloud now wears the wings, and the button below the preview changes to Remove wings.
- Click Close DXPR Onboarding.
You can also open the window from More > DXPR Onboarding on the DXPR Builder toolbar, or with Ctrl+Shift+F1 (Cmd+Shift+F1 on a Mac). Outside the editor, your user profile has a read-only DXPR Onboarding tab.
What you see
Overview shows your rank and badge count, the Rank ladder and a suggestion for your next skill. Badges lists every badge; filter it with Show and Category, or search by name. Browse skill collections groups the badges, for example AI skills and Design craft. Wings shows the nine wing sets and how many badges each one needs. DXPR Builder guides offers three short guides that you follow on your own page.
A badge card says where you stand:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Earned | DXPR has confirmed the action. The detail shows the earning date when it is available. |
| In progress | The badge needs more than one action, for example 3 different AI tones. The detail shows how far you are, such as "2 of 3". |
| Not yet earned | DXPR has not confirmed the action yet. |
| Currently unavailable | The feature is off on this site, for example AI is not set up. |
| Earned · currently unavailable | You earned it before. The feature is off here now, and your badge stays. |
| Activity history pending | DXPR has not sent your history yet. It updates on its own. |

Each badge detail has Read the documentation, a link to the guide for that skill. The AI and workflow badges have these guides:
| Badges | Guide |
|---|---|
| Aurora Editor, Copy Polisher, Inline Collaborator, Contextual Creator | Review and keep AI text |
| Language Bridge | Translate content with AI |
| Creative Twin | Clone a web page with AI |
| Voice Explorer | Compare writing tones with AI |
| Experiment Designer | Create an A/B test variant with AI Chat |
| AI Toolkit Explorer, AI Toolkit Navigator | Explore the AI content tools |
| Studio Constellation | Design, save and reuse a section |
How badges are earned
Badges follow what you actually do in DXPR Builder, such as adding an element, changing a setting or keeping AI text. Reading a guide, opening a badge or following a link earns nothing. DXPR counts your activity by the email address of your account. Your badges therefore follow you to every site where you log in with the same email, and earlier work counts too.
A new badge shows after DXPR has received your activity. That usually takes a few minutes, and the window updates on its own; there is no refresh button. A short notice appears when you earn a badge or unlock wings. Notices wait while you type, while the AI writes and while a window is open.
Ranks and wings
Your rank grows with your number of badges:
| Rank | Badges |
|---|---|
| Newcomer | 0 |
| Learner | 1 |
| Practitioner | 3 |
| Skilled Practitioner | 6 |
| Specialist | 12 |
| Expert | 20 |
| Master | 30 |
| Distinguished Master | 45 |
| Grandmaster | 60 |
Wings unlock at 1, 3, 5, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32 and 40 badges: Paper, Swift, Monarch, Arcforge, Phoenix, Aurora, Seraph, Eclipse and Supernova. Wings are your choice and do not change your rank. Open a wing set to compare it with the pair you wear, then click Equip wings, or Remove wings to take them off.
Notifications
The first time you open the editor with DXPR Onboarding switched on, a welcome notice shows your rank and counts. It stays until you close it with its × button. Notices for a new badge, new wings or a new rank close on their own after a few seconds; close them earlier with ×. View badge, Choose wings and View DXPR Onboarding in a notice open the window at that place.
Settings
Your site administrator sets up DXPR Onboarding at DXPR Studio > DXPR Builder > DXPR Onboarding (/admin/dxpr_studio/dxpr_builder/guide_settings), with the Administer DXPR Builder configuration permission. The site needs a DXPR API key.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Enable DXPR Onboarding | Switches the whole feature on for editors with the Edit with DXPR Builder permission | Off |
| DXPR Builder guides | Offers the optional step-by-step guides | On |
| DXPR Builder badges | Shows badges and their details | On |
| Collectible wings | Shows wings and lets editors equip them | On |
| Cloud avatar | Shows the Onboarding companion beside the editor | On |
| Celebration effects | Shows short effects for new badges and ranks | On |
| DXPR Onboarding notices | Shows notices for new badges and wings | On |
These are site settings; editors have no personal switches. When a computer asks for reduced motion in its system settings, the companion and the celebrations do not animate. Turning a switch off hides that part but keeps the badges people earned.
If you don't see DXPR Onboarding
- There is no cloud at the bottom right of the editor. Cloud avatar or the whole feature is off, or you are in Preview. Use More > DXPR Onboarding on the toolbar, or ask your site administrator.
- The More menu has no DXPR Onboarding item. Enable DXPR Onboarding is off, or the site has no DXPR API key. Ask your site administrator.
- The window says "Activity history pending" or "Your collection will update automatically." DXPR has not answered yet. Keep working; the window updates on its own.
- A badge you expected does not show yet. DXPR has not received the activity, or the action was not the one the badge needs. Wait a few minutes, then read the badge's detail and its guide.
- No wing can be equipped. You have no badges yet. Earn one, for example by building your first page, and Paper wings unlock.
- The Badges or Wings tab is missing. Your site administrator has switched off DXPR Builder badges or Collectible wings.
- A badge says Currently unavailable. The feature is off on this site, for example AI or an element. Your earned badges stay; you can earn this one on a site that has the feature.
