Translate content with AI.

Translate the text of a page or section with AI, check it and keep it

Learn DXPR BuilderBuild pagesWrite and design with AI

Translate the text on a page into another language without leaving the editor. You ask AI Agent on the builder toolbar for the language you need. Then you check the translation and keep it with your first correction. The AI keeps names and web addresses as they are. For a site with a full version in each language, see Multilingual sites.

The video translates an Open Day notice into Dutch, checks the name and the web address, and keeps the translation.

Before you start

  • AI is switched on, with Enable page creation assistant ticked. See Turn on AI in DXPR Builder.
  • The page is open for editing in DXPR Builder, so the builder toolbar shows.
  • The page has the text you want to translate. To translate one section only, use Edit with AI on it, see below.
  • Someone who reads the target language can check the result. The AI can miss the meaning of a sentence.
  • The translation replaces the original text. To keep both, clone the section first and translate the copy, see Clone an element.

Set up

  1. Click AI Agent on the builder toolbar. The AI Content Generator panel opens.
  2. Ask for the translation and name the language, for example "Translate into Dutch".
  3. Click Generate content.
  4. Read the translation. Check that names, dates and web addresses did not change.
  5. Click at the end of the translated text and make your first correction, then click outside the text.
  6. Click Save on the builder toolbar.

What you see

While the AI works, a status line says "Translating the selected content..." or "Translating your page...". The translation then replaces the text in the same elements. Headings stay headings, and the layout and styles stay as they were.

The translation is on the page as soon as it appears, and it is saved with the page either way. Your first correction in step 5 keeps it: it records that you reviewed it. Any small edit counts, such as a sign-off or a corrected word. The page shows no message when you keep it.

Any change that the builder records in Show history does the same, such as editing a word or adding an element. Translations have no accept button. Saving the page or clicking outside the text without a change does not keep the translation. See Review and keep AI text for how keeping works in each AI tool.

To translate one element only, use Edit with AI in its More menu and ask for the translation there. In the text toolbar, Ask AI to edit can translate a selected sentence too. It writes the new text in place, like the other text commands in Rewrite text with AI.

If you don't see the translation

  • The text came back in the same language. The request did not name a language the AI understood. Ask again with "Translate ... into" and the language, for example "into Dutch".
  • A name, a date or a web address changed. The AI translated something it should have kept. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) and generate the translation again.
  • Only part of the page is translated. The AI chose one element. Select the element you mean and use Edit with AI on it, or name the section in your request.
  • The status line turns into "Hmm...something seems to have gone wrong." DXPR could not finish the request, for example because the account is out of credits. Click Retry, or check Credits remaining at /admin/dxpr_studio/dxpr_builder/ai_settings.
