Een **module** is een softwarepakket dat de werking van het Drupal-contentmanagementsysteem (CMS) uitbreidt. Modules zijn in de programmeertaal PHP geschreven en komen meestal mee met een Drupal-distributie of als zelfstandig pakket. Met modules voeg je functies aan een Drupal-website toe, zoals aangepaste contenttypen, gebruikersrollen en zoekmachineoptimalisatie (SEO). Ook wijzig je er bestaande werking mee, zoals hoe content verschijnt of nieuwe velden in bestaande contenttypen. Modules beheer je via de Drupal-beheerinterface, waar je ze inschakelt, uitschakelt en instelt.

Meestal bouwen externe ontwikkelaars modules, maar Drupal-gebruikers maken ze ook. Modules download je van de Drupal-website of uit andere bronnen, zoals GitHub. Na het downloaden installeer en schakel je een module in om hem te gebruiken. Daarna stel je hem op de behoeften van de website af.
