Drush is een opdrachtregelshell en scriptinterface voor Drupal. Je beheert en administreert er Drupal-websites mee vanaf de opdrachtregel. Met Drush voer je allerlei taken uit, zoals modules installeren en bijwerken, thema’s downloaden en inschakelen, database-updates draaien en meer. Drush is een essentieel hulpmiddel voor elke Drupal-ontwikkelaar of -beheerder.

Drush is geschreven in PHP en wordt verspreid als opdrachtregeltool. De tool is beschikbaar voor Linux en Windows. Drush wordt geïnstalleerd op de server waar de Drupal-website wordt gehost. Vanaf dezelfde server beheer je er meerdere Drupal-websites mee.

Drush-opdrachten schrijf je als opdrachtregelargument. Om bijvoorbeeld een module te installeren luidt de opdracht “drush dl \[module name\]”. Drush biedt ook een aantal handige opdrachten voor het beheer van Drupal-websites, zoals “drush cc all” waarmee je de Drupal-cache wist, of “drush up” waarmee je alle geïnstalleerde modules bijwerkt.

Drush is een hulpmiddel van onschatbare waarde voor het beheer van Drupal-websites. Het is snel, efficiënt en eenvoudig in gebruik. Het bespaart tijd en moeite bij het beheer van meerdere Drupal-websites en is een essentieel hulpmiddel voor elke Drupal-ontwikkelaar of -beheerder.
